Back in the hotel, Zheng Ziming went to check in for his room and Wen Jing went with him.

Xia Ning returned to her own room and took out the key card. She looked up, just to see Lin Nan standing right in front of his room. She raised her eyebrows a little and said, “Brother Lin, you are still up so late.”

Lin Nan was thinking about something at the door. Hearing this, he looked to the side and found that it was Xia Ning. “You are back,” he said with a smile.

Xia Ning nodded. “Yeah.”

“Where’s your friend?” Lin Nan darted a look behind her. There was no one.

“He left.”

Lin Nan’s heart was suddenly relieved. He continued, “Why didn’t he stay for a few days?”

“He’s very busy. It’s rare that he was able to visit me,” Xia Ning smiled and said.

Lin Nan nodded and replied with a smile, “I thought you would introduce me. Actually, we were dining at the same place. I saw you walking in, but didn’t want to barge in and say hi before I told you.”

“There will be a lot of chance for you two to meet.” Xia Ning smiled and walked to the door. “Brother Lin, were you looking for me?”

“Nope. I just want to check if you are back or not.” Lin Nan looked at Xia Ning’s undisturbed face as if she was ready to bring her boyfriend to see him.

The smile on Xia Ning’s face faded a little. She looked at Lin Nan. It had been over a decade and this man did not really change that much. His personality, looks, and character were all top-notch. She had always believed he was going to make it to the top and be extremely successful and it turned out this way.

“Brother Lin, I want to talk to you about something.”

Lin Nan looked at Xia Ning in confusion. “Now?”

“Yes.” Xia Ning nodded. “Let’s talk on the rooftop, shall we?”

Lin Nan started to have a bad feeling about this. He said reluctantly, “It’s so late and a bit cold. Shall we talk some other time?” He thought she was way too calm to be figured out now.

“It’s okay. I’ll go back to my room and grab a jacket,” Xia Ning said with a smile. “Or is it that you don’t want to chat with me, Brother Lin?”

“No way,” Lin Nan answered with a smile. “Go find a jacket first. I will wait for you on the roof.”

Xia Ning nodded. She took out the card and opened the door, took a jacket and went to the rooftop with Lin Nan.

It was quiet at night. All that could be heard was the sound of the wind. Xia Ning was still on a call. “I’m a bit busy now. You should go to bed first. We can wait till tomorrow if there is anything.”

“Sure!” Xia Ning hung up and put her phone back into her pocket. She pulled her clothes tighter and looked at Lin Nan. “Sorry, Brother Lin, for the wait,” she said.

Lin Nan said with a smile, “No worries. But you really have a great relationship with Young Master Zheng.”

But he was sure Xia Ning would not like Zheng Ziming.

Xia Ning smiled. “We grew up together. It’s different.”

Lin Nan nodded and did not speak.

The two went into a brief silence. Eventually, Xia Ning started to talk.

“I remember I met you at the age of seven, Uncle Lin. You were nineteen that year. It was right in Director Zeng’s garden. I was on the swing and waiting for my mum who went in for an audition. And you were the newcomer who had Director Zeng’s admiration. In Director Zeng’s new movie, you were picked to be the male lead. You came out to get some air and happened to see me.”

Hearing Xia Ning reminding him of the past and calling him uncle, Lin Nan felt even more unsettled in his heart. Of course, it was a trap.

She was trying to clarify their relationship.

Xia Ning continued, “A few months ago, I went to Director Zeng’s house and saw that the swing was still there. At that moment, I had a delusion of going back to the past, when the seven-year-old me met the nineteen-year-old you. And my mum was still alive. But I awoke from the dream and came back to reality. You are a world-famous Movie King now and I’m no longer the little Su Ke. But the only thing that did not change, is that you are my Uncle Lin.”
